The Robert Stolz Viennese Music Society Inc was established in Melbourne, Australia, in 1984 at the instigation of Robert Stolz's widow Einzi and two local music enthusiasts, Mrs Hedy Holt and Mr Roger Prochazka. The Society was officially registered and incorporated as a non-profit organisation in September 1985. The original name, "The Australian Robert Stolz Society Inc", was changed to the current name in 2005.

The Society aims to promote Robert Stolz' music, and lighthearted Viennese and classical music generally in a relaxed and happy atmosphere.

The Society is a sponsor of numerous music organisations in Melbourne. It is also helping talented young Australian singers and instrumentalists with scholarships and concert opportunities to establish and further their musical careers.

The Latest

The corona virus pandemic 2020:

Our first concert, planned for the 22nd March in Warragul was cancelled only days to go, together with other major Melbourne events (the Formula 1 Grand Prix etc). The virus' "second wave" in mid year prevented staging our concert for the rest of 2020.

Edward Brian Forrest - passed away on 23rd November 2020:

The funeral service was held on the 3rd December 2020 at the Lilydale Federation Chapel (Melbourne). Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, only a few members of the Society were able present.

A member of the Society since May 1995, Brian was elected to be a Committee member in May 2012. His work on the Society's administrative tasks was invaluable  (Charles Zahra - Secretary/Treasurer).

I was very sorry to hear the sad news of our friend and committee member, Brian Forrest. He has been a loyal and hard working member for many years and will be greatly missed (Albert Whitelaw - Committee).

He was a true gentleman, quietly spoken, gentle and passionate about music ... The first day I joined the RSVMS in May 2007, Brian welcomed me warmly. He shall be greatly missed by us all (Don Chisholm - Committee).

The corona virus restrictions are still with us in 2021:

Members of the Society will be notified when circumstances change.
